Dark Skies are good for people and wildlife, but starry views are threatened by light pollution. This talk, walk and stargazing opportunity will discuss light pollution, the effect nighttime lights have on people and the environment, and what we can do to protect our views of the Milky Way.

Annual celebration of our community’s youngest artists. All kindergarten through 12th grade students in Summit and Wasatch counties are invited to participate, creating work around a common theme. This year’s theme, inspired by the work of Maia Cruz Palileo, is about our families. The unfettered imagination of these highly skilled and creative students produces artworks that are both revealing and thought-provoking.

For twenty years and counting, Sō Percussion has redefined chamber music for the 21st century through an “exhilarating blend of precision and anarchy, rigor and bedlam” (The New Yorker). They are celebrated by audiences and presenters for a dazzling range of work: for live performances in which “telepathic powers of communication”(The New York Times) bring to life the vibrant percussion repertoire; for an extravagant array of collaborations in classical music, pop, indie rock, contemporary dance, and theater.

Swaner Preserve and EcoCenter is excited to offer 4 days of fun, outdoor camp during the Park City Spring Break. Spring Break Camp is open to youth currently enrolled in 1st through 5th graders. Kindergartners may not attend — no exceptions.

In the last days of the Old West, Madams Mae Phelps and Dora Topham were wealthy “Underworld Queens,” Panderers and Social Reformers. Dora Topham was commissioned by the Salt Lake City mayor and city council to organize “The Stockade,” a block of prostitution in the downtown area, not far from the Temple. Mae Phelps, like Dora Topham, championed health care for her ladies and worked with civic leaders. Mae also organized a Madams’ Association.
