That blend of classical, jazz, bluegrass, folk, Motown, gospel, rock, blues that takes on a life of its own. “The most spontaneous aspects of our shows occur when a song becomes reinvented,” Hornsby said. “Or I turn one song into another, or I make-up new words. Or I’ll just cut the band off and go into a new section that I’m making up in the moment, and then they’ll come play it with me.”
